Selvam Sabapathy
Managing Partner
Selvam is an entrepreneur with a background in program management and business consulting. He has over 15 years of experience in commercial multifamily real estate acquisitions, asset management and dispositions. He has acquired and managed over $500M of multifamily assets and consistently generated above-market returns. Prior to his commercial real estate ventures Selvam has held program management positions at multiple Fortune 500 technology companies.
Selvam completed his Bachelors in Engineering and Post Graduate education in Management at Swinburne University, Melbourne, Australia.
Brett Bowman
Managing Partner
Brett is a senior executive with more than 25 years of financial and operational management experience across multiple industries. Brett was previously CFO at Securonix (Sold to Vista Equity Partners), MainStreetHub (Sold to GoDaddy), Woot.com and held senior leadership roles at organizations ranging from small entrepreneurial ventures to Fortune 100 companies.
He has an MBA in Finance from Florida State University and a BS in Engineering Management from the United States Military Academy at West Point.
Vivek Sagi
Managing Partner
Vivek is a serial entrepreneur and C-level executive at Fortune 100 companies. Vivek is currently CTO of Eventbrite (NYSE: EB) and was previously CTO of RetailMeNot, CTO of Amazon Business (grew to $15B), CTO of Woot.com, interim CTO of Vungle (sold for $750M), and founding CTO of NewBrandAnalytics (raised $45M in venture capital and sold).
Vivek is an investor and advisor to multiple tech startups in Austin and is a board member at the Wharton Venture Labs. He holds a MBA from Wharton, an M.S from Penn State and a B.Tech from IIT-Madras.
Jessica Bowman
Director, Investor Relations
Jessica enjoys bringing her knowledge and insight of the real estate industry as a marketing manager at Valorem Ventures. Her passion for excellence that she brings to Valorem's investment community is the same passion she brings to the field as a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader. Jessica graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Public Relations and a minor in Business and was a leader on the University of Texas Pom Squad. One fun fact is she had a blast performing on Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show when he came to the University of Texas!
Michael Oberrender
Director of Acquisitions
Michael brings 10 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry. He previously served as the Transaction Manager for GVA Real Estate Group overseeing the acquisition and disposition of GVA’s multifamily portfolio throughout the U.S. Michael also previously served as a Senior Credit Analyst at A10 Capital where he underwrote and closed a variety of commercial real estate loans.
Michael holds a MS in Real Estate from Texas A&M University and a BS in Agricultural Economics fromTexas A&M University.
Leah Finley
Director of Operations
Leah has been in property management and operations for over 30 years. Her experience extends across different property types, including mid-rise buildings, mixed-use developments, conventional and affordable housing.She has extensive experience with major capital projects, and value-added projects. In her last position at a local multifamily operator she oversaw operations for 125 properties.
Leah's educational background includes attending the University of Phoenix. Her certifications include CAM (Certified Apartment Manager) and CAPS (Certified Apartment Portfolio Supervisor) from the National Apartment Association (NAA). Additionally, she holds an HCCP (Housing Credit Certified Professional) designation from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).
Jake Pohl
Director of Asset Management
Jake as Director of Asset Management brings 8 years of analytical and strategic experience in multifamily asset management. Prior to joining Valorem Ventures Jake served as an Asset Manager at a local Austin-based multifamily investment and management group, where he oversaw the company’s Central and South Texas portfolio totaling over 9,500 units. Jake worked directly with the onsite operations and management team to implement business plans and all capital expense projects. He was instrumental in overseeing the successful and profitable disposition of 13 assets. Jake graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in government and a minor in Business.
Christina Young
Finance Controller
Christina as Finance Controller brings over 30 years’ experience in property management accounting. Christina previously worked as Controller for a local Texas based property management company with over 140 assets spanning the southeastern United States. Christina brings a strong ability to build accounting processes and procedures and previously managed a team of 32 accountants. She has an associate degree in accounting from Skadron College and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Oral Roberts University. In her free time, she loves to travel the world and capture amazing moments with her camera. Photography is her passion and has taken her to some of the most incredible places on Earth.
Jessica Cardenas
Director Community Support
Jessica as Director of Community Support brings 20 years of experience in the multifamily industry. Jessica previously served at an Austin based multifamily investment and management company with a portfolio of 150 properties. She was responsible for the operations support strategy, assisting management and ensuring profitability of a portfolio of over 30,000 units nationwide. Jessica worked directly with the ownership, vendors, and the acquisition team, while serving as an operation liaison between asset management, on-site operations and the executive team.
Tomy Moldanado
Director of Strategic Planning
Tomy brings over 12 years of experience in the multifamily industry. Having served in the US Army as a combat Veteran, he possesses a strong sense of discipline, dedication, leadership and attention to detail. His experience managing a wide range of assets including Conventional, HOA, Section 8 and Affordable Housing has enabled him to navigate complex regulations and ensure compliance, while also providing quality housing options for individuals and families in need. He has extensive expertise in troubled assets, utilizing innovative strategies to attract and retain tenants. Tomy’s educational background includes an associate degree in automotive technology and computer science. He has recently attained his CAM designation through the National Apartment Association (NAA).
